Terms and Conditions of Sale

The conditions set out here constitute our terms of sale. Please speak to Sara Ruddick Cakes for clarity on any matter which is not clear or you do not understand. Note that nothing contained here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

We will endeavour to do everything we can to accommodate your order however we work to a maximum number of cakes per week and will not compromise quality through over booking.

Usually 3 months notice for wedding cakes and 2 weeks notice for celebration cakes and cup cakes is sufficient, with less notice required during the winter months. If you require rich fruit cake please give as much notice as possible to allow the cake(s) to be made in advance and have time to mature.

We have limited availability so to avoid disappointment please book early.

Customer Satisfactions Guarantee

Should you be unhappy with the cake we will do everything we can to rectify the matter before your event. If you are still unsatisfied then we will refund the price of the cake in return for the complete unconsumed product. Refunds will not be given where the product has been consumed as this will be viewed as acceptance of satisfaction the product was fit for purpose.

If you have a complaint about the taste of the cake then a sample is to be provided within 24 hours.

Check your order

While we take every measure possible to check orders it is also the responsibility of the customer to make sure the details on the order form are accurate and meet their requirements. While we will do everything we can to rectify the situation when an error is made, e.g. wrong date, then the responsibility lies with the customer to have checked the details.

Deposits and Payments

Once the order is placed the deposit (£100 for wedding and £50 for other cakes) is nontransferable and non-refundable.

The order is confirmed on receipt of the deposit and no guarantees can be given on availability until the deposit has been paid.

Balances for wedding cakes are due 28 days before the wedding date and for novelty cakes 14 days before the event.

Cancelled orders with less than 60 days notice are payable in full.

Cakes will be delivered and set up at an additional cost.

Delivery day and time will be by prior agreement between the client, the venue and Sara Ruddick Cakes.

Tiered Wedding Cakes will be delivered to venues and set up by Sara Ruddick Cakes to ensure the cake is delivered to the client’s specification.

A cake being delivered will remain the responsibility of the Sara Ruddick Cakes while in transit. Where any damage occurs to the cake in transit then it is the sole responsibility of Sara Ruddick Cakes to make good again. If this is not possible, for whatever reason, then a full refund will be given.

Clients may collect their celebration cake at a mutually convenient time and deliver it to the venue themselves. Once the cake leaves Sara Ruddick Cakes responsibility passes to the customer and the cake maker is not liable for any damage in transit. The cake will be boxed or otherwise suitably packaged for transport. Please be aware that a flat, non-slip surface is required to retain the stability of the cake and should be secured where possible to remove the risk of movement in transit.

If you are unsure please speak to Sara Ruddick Cakes for advice.

Best Before Dates

Depending on the intricacy of your cake design, some cakes, especially larger ones, need to be in preparation for two sometimes three days before the event. While we do everything to ensure that the cake is as fresh as possible for the event the cake is best eaten on the day of your event and the best before dates are usually within two days of the event.

A rich fruit cake will have a longer use by date and can safely be eaten a number of weeks after the event when properly stored.

Your cake/(s) is best stored in the box it has been collected / delivered in and in a cool, dry place. Cakes covered in sugar paste should not be stored in a fridge as the paste will become wet and sticky, however, to assist in prolonging the shelf life, sponge cakes are best placed in a sealed container in the fridge after removing any special decorations. We do not accept liability for consumption from two days following the event.

Non-Edible Decorations

During the design process the customer will be informed of any non-edible decorations and supports that may be used to construct the cake. The customer must relay this information to the venue / hosts to ensure they are removed prior to serving.

The design copyright is the property of the Sara Ruddick Cakes. The customer does not have any claim on the design. Sara Ruddick Cakes reserves the right to use images of any design for promotional purposes following the event.
